Fiction books with an Inclusion theme, to stimulate discussion with and among children. Some books have an age suggestion.
I am grateful to my wife, Melanie, the library manager from Cams Hill School, Fareham, for this list of books for (largely secondary) children, to create the basis for discussion about inclusion issues. She has read them all!

Have you read Cowgirl by Giancarlo Gemin, published by Nosy Crow? In my mind it is a real tale about inclusion, understanding and reaching out. The characters are at the same time realistic, wacky and very touching .What I really enjoyed about it is that it brings generations and the neighbouring community together to work to a common goal: a cow problem to solve, by this transcending the fear of others and their differences. A lovely story with meaning!
